Very limited parking. Apartment not cleaned. Broken sofa bed with holes in mattress Insufficient seating (4 chairs in a 6 person apartment) Not enough glasses - only 2, both different sizes. Dinner plates not washed properly, one still had egg on it. Small size of dinner and side plates.
Very convenient for the beach at camber sands. The children really enjoyed the sites swimming pool and the slides in the shallow part of the pool. Our 9 year old also enjoyed the inflatable in the deeper part of the pool. The pool was well supervised despite its popularity. There are a number of horror stories on the Internet about the site. We found our accommodation clean and in good condition and had nothing to complain about - all linen had been cleaned and pressed. For the price we paid we felt it was good value and would recommend for a weekend at the beach. We ate out in rye so we have no comment on the food but the all you can eat breakfast looked good .
Great place for accessing camber sands beach and for children to play. All parking on site is free. The children loved the arcade but if spending too much time in there could prove quite costly! :)
The choices of food were very basic (burgers and chips/pizza/chicken tikka curry/fish and chips) however there was no choice in having a salad as there was none available. As for the room(s) they are chalet style over two floors with a balcony...even though the balcony is of sufficient health and safety height not really recommended for visitors with young children that like to climb! There is an option to have a ground floor chalet but at a supplement. I found the windows on the back if the chalet (none bslcony side) could have done with a clean as there was simething that resembled egg stuck all over them! Though there is ample parking on site we as a family found it a little troublesome to actually find a space near our chalet. All in all though for our night there it was sufficient and value for money.
The 2 things we liked best were the childrens entertainmentThe ideas were good and the enthuism was catching.I Liked the open area to play outside the chalet to meet other children. We liked not having to cook.We all liked the beach and We liked Rhye nearby and the castle.
The entertainment was good , but the noise was terrible(mike noise, not the children) and although, I think the decibels were too lood personally, and would be one of those factors that erode ones hearing, gradually that I have read about. We couldn't bring the one year old anywhere near the noise as their ears are more sensitive , which meant we could not sit together and enjoy our evening. I am a Grandmother and my kids would not have been allowed upfront because of the noise level of the mike and music, which would have made me a miserable 'Party Pooper'.My daughter put their ears in danger and was more popular.-though I didn't look forward to eating and we had to eat out twice, the choice and what we liked was limited. The chicken was always too dried up, the fish was fatty, and the beefburgers had gristle in them.Breakfast was the better meal. The sea was a bit polluted by a suntan cream foamy yellow wash, are all the beaches nearby like that? I think the money spent on the arcade is wasted and the room taken up-many many children are not given the money to enjoy it and feel miserable-I saw this. The money could be spent on repainting the chalets in different recognisable colours, so children did not get lost-ours did.The money could be spent on a free attraction or something for adults- babysitting and an area just for them with limited entertainment perhaps. A little train running aroun picking up people and dropping them with a catchy tune-a glorified few carts on wheels would do.The children said "we want to go back! The parents(I heard some)said "never again! As they just sat around
The holiday park is very dated and the rooms are in need off refurbishment. The carpet in our room was very dirty and really needed replacing!
The beach is only a short walk from the site and is lovely although the tide goes out a very long way very quickly.
The holiday park is very dated. We stayed in the classic accomodation and the chalet was clean but very basic, not somewhere we would stay again. There is very little to do in the local area in the evenings and the entertainment on the park is dire!!
The proximity to the lovely beach is good, just a short walk, with good facilities ie toilets, beach patrol, police office, beachwear shops, cafes, car park.
Pontins itself is delapidated. It hasn't been maintained (facilities) in 11 yrs since we last visited. Toilets in the complex were disgusting, and largely broken and deep down dirty around plugs etc. the pub had the same threadbare upholstery, horrible plastic chairs in the entertaintainment rooms, where they charged various prices at the bar. It just didn't look any different.! The entertainment is geared to characters to fleece parents as much as poss. There is no internet facility whatsoever. The sofa bed? Sooo uncomfortable. All in all disappointing
Location and the range of activities, the beach is wow wow wow (2 minutes walk outside the park), and its good for kids as there is many things to do for them
The place is too old and needs to be knocked down and then rebuilt, but my 2 year old daughter loves it and she is the boss obviously, but do not expect 5* hotels and do not pay 100's per night (which apparently some people have done), just go there when there is an offer on, otherwise you would be disappointed, I would say self catering under 30- 40 quid a night depending on the season, not more
General cleaness of holiday park was very poor, and all paintworkl needs re-painting, and all the widows were filthy, and covered in seagull droppings, I also spent the night in the toilet, with food poison after eating a steak and mushroom pie in the dinning room.
Mine was a short stay, 1 night and for this, it represented good value and suited the purpose quite adequately. The chalet was clean with all the basic facilities needed.
The accomodation and facilities are very dated with little evidence of any significant investment for many years. For anything other than use as budget accomodation, as a base /short break it really would be quite disapointing to anyone who had not read the many poor reviews beforehand.
The blue coats were very good the staff were not helpful could of done more it needs someone to take care and be interested in there job go the extra mile
The staff need to take an interest in the customers we are on holiday
Lots of outdoor playparks
Indoor playgroup for under 4's was being used by teenage handicap children and therefore could not be used by my son. A key was stuck in the door upon arrival and we had to wait an hour to get in to our room after travelling 8 hours from germany. There was piles of rubbish outside the front door I did not like having to go through the arcade to reach the restaurant as this caused several tantrums from my 2 year old who wanted to play! The state of the park was in poor dis-repair and generally filthy
Basically it was the worst place I have ever stayed. My family and children were very.disappointed. The room we were given was double booked. The room we were given was infested with ants. The room itself was cold, damp and very run down, the wardrobes were broke, the carpet was all coming up, the bathroom was disgusting to the fact that my children didn't want to use it. The restaurant where we ate on site was dirty, the menu was just unhealthy food options which I was not happy with. The breakfast was included but no vouchers for this were given. All in all I am really glad we didn't book for our main holidays in august as we would of been mortified.
I liked the outdoor parks for the children.
unfriendly and unhelpful staff, ants Infestation, dirty and damp chalet. Dirty and tatty indoor facilities. Door to entertainment fell off onto my husband, no apology given, good job it wasnt a child it landed on. Nightly entertainment was overall very poor. Wouldn't advise anyone to stop there.
Location is not bad, but not worth staying here. A real off the bottom of the charts property.
In a 3rd world country Pontins would be a bad hotel, in Britian it is quite surprising. Very old, very tired, should be torn down. Paint peeling, wood rotted, holes visible in other buildings. The floor was very dirty, one window was covered in bird feces. Bed linens were stained, no matereras covers over the old and dirty beds. Sand was on several beds which we brushed off, but one of the blankets had so much sand/dirt in it, that by morning there was literally nearly a cup of sand in our sons bed. We had not noticed because the light in the room did not work, and the blanket was needed because the heater did not work either. No towels soap, or shower gel, and you have to buy tokens to power the shower and stove, maybe the whole place. They give you tokens for each person in your car if you leave the property, I guess to keep unpaid guests out. We got a room key that did not work, and when maintenance supplied the correct key, the door lock did not work properly, which they did fix. The bathroom door never did lock. The list is long and after staying in hundreds of hotels on 6 continents for adventure, vacation and business, this is the worst place we can remember. My family did not feel safe, loud voices at night, and wished we had just moved on at a loss. Not worth it at any price.
